Monthly Challenge: Shallow Depth of Field | Central Florida Portrait Photographer

Every month I participate with other Clickin moms to really push ourselves creatively with a different challenge each month. This month our challenge was shallow depth of field. Shallow depth of field is achieved by shooting “wide open” or using a low aperture. I shoot this way a majority of the time since it’s fitting for portraits. Using shallow depth of field allows your subject to be isolated and sharp but everything else to just blur into the background . It can be tricky sometimes because if your depth of field is very shallow then it can be difficult to achieve really sharp focus! For this month I decided to go very simple to really showcase what shallow depth of field looks like. I shot these with my 50mm at f/1.4. When you are finished looking please head over to Adeena’s blog to see her take on shallow depth of field!
